PMTC & KRTS Professional Commercial Motor Vehicle Driver Training Scholarship

PMTC will award a PMTC Member with a Professional Commercial Motor Vehicle Driver Training Scholarship which will cover the costs for the recipient to complete a full training program through KRTS, or another registered training provider should the candidate be from outside of Ontario.

This program is an intensive minimum 200 hour course, which when completed, will arm the new Professional Driver with a high level of training, as set by the Professional Truck Driver Institute (PTDI) and the Truck Training Schools Associate of Ontario (TTSAO) mandatory requirements. These standards will provide the student with the skills and confidence necessary to become a successful Professional driver. The award will help promote investment in the training needs of our great industry.

In August KRTS instructor Dan Roberts was on location at Superior Propane in Ottawa conducting professional training with PMTC Education Bursary winner Mike Russell. Mike received practical training from KRTS which included the safe operation of the truck, pre trip inspection, airbrake practical, defensive driving and much more. Along with the practical training, there were also some transportation topics like hours of service, log books, fire safety, and fuel efficiency covered. “The folks at Superior were great hosts for me” said Roberts. “Heather Ross took care of everyone as though they were family. Working with Mike was a tremendous experience and his dedication and desire to learn made my job very easy.” Mike also enjoyed his learning experience with Dan stating. “Dan was the best instructor you could have sent, thank you.”
